Protest at Ministry of Supervision Against Corruption and Human Rights Abuses

[Protest] More than 200 petitioners staged a protest in front of the Ministry of Supervision in Beijing. This account points out that the protest focused not on the individual cases of the petitioners, but on systemic issues including corruption and human rights abuses.


二百多访民在中国监察部前示威抗议

今天(7月17日)上午八点,两百多访民汇聚在中国监察部大门前的马路上,高呼“保护人权,打到腐败,惩治贪官,马文出来”等口号,进行示威抗议活动。

今天的活动和以往的示威活动有所不同的是,以往参与活动的访民,一般都是把自己的上访的诉求放在活动的重要位置,而近来参与示威的抗议者,很少有人再无休止地向路人述说自己个人的“冤情”了,而能从更广泛的社会角度来参加示威集会。

示威进行半个小时后,有一批警察赶到试图驱散人群,一个警号为030067的警察和一位大约七八十岁的老太太发生肢体冲突,030067号警察想将老太太推离人群,这位老太太也不示弱,反而推了警察,也想把警察推离。

九点钟左右,四川籍一姓冉的女访民和警察发生冲突,有五个警察要强行将冉女士拖离示威群众,有二十多位参与示威的访民冲过去将冉女士拉回。

九点半的时候,有一位湖北籍的访民被强行带上一辆警车,引起更多示威的访民的愤怒,示威者情绪更加激愤,引起警察和示威者间更大范围的对峙。大约半个小时后,警方迫于访民的压力将其放回。

十点钟左右,又赶来一大批警察,其中还赶来二十个左右的女警,将参与示威的访民驱离到附近一个公交汽车站后,参与抗议的访民才逐渐散去。
