June Fourth Memorial Archive

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of June Fourth, Human Rights in China is expanding its June Fourth website and developing new and updated content. The editorial team responsible for this project includes Wang Dan, a student leader on Tiananmen Square in June 1989, and Liu Nianchun, a dissident writer and poet in exile. We appreciate your patience while this site is under construction.

Human Rights in China will continue to support the efforts by civil society groups to press the Chinese government to reveal the truth of June Fourth, to pursue official accountability, to afford compensation to victims and their families, and to reassess the 1989 Democracy Movement and its suppression. By this effort, we hope to advance the human rights situation in China, and help bring about the peaceful transformation of the Chinese society, so that the fundamental rights recognized in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights may finally be realized.
