HRIC Statement: Congratulations to the Tiananmen Mothers on the Establishment of their Website

As we commemorate the 19th anniversary of June Fourth, the Tiananmen Mothers website has been set up. With respect to the victims, this is an especially meaningful memorial. On this occasion, we would like to express our deep grief for those who were killed on June Fourth, as well as our great respect for the Tiananmen Mothers. Congratulations on the opening of the new Tiananmen Mothers’ website!

June Fourth was a day that broke the hearts of people around the world. So many innocent lives were so cruelly taken – the Chinese government to this day has not publicly announced the number of victims, and for this reason so many homes have been shattered. This day is one that cannot be forgotten. We must be untiring as we seek out every victim, seek justice and morality on their behalf, and return to them their dignity. This is not only for those who died, but even more so for those who are living, for the children of the future. Life is precious, and every person on this earth is entitled to a safe, healthy, and free life, as well as to the enjoyment of legitimate rights—extending from the basic existence of each person, to their family and social rights, and even their right to thought and belief.
In the past 19 years, the Tiananmen Mothers have tirelessly struggled to search for those killed during June Fourth, in order to recover their honor and seek justice. After 19 years of storms and winds, bumpy roads, and tears of blood, some of the Tiananmen mothers have already reached old-age. A few have even passed away. The reasoning behind their actions is quite simple: they are mothers, their innocent family members have been cruelly murdered, and they desire justice for their dead children. However, they have not stopped at this: they have seen their children’s blood as the blood of China; as a result of the loss of their family members, they have seen the misfortune of the entire nation. They have called for conscience, for the abandonment of hatred, for the defense of life and human rights, and for a China filled with love.
The mission of Human Rights in China is to devote itself to advancing the progress of the human rights situation in China. For many years, Human Rights in China has supported the Tiananmen Mothers. We have supported their struggle to search for the dead, testify regarding the massacre, and seek justice. We have supported their legitimate demands for publishing of the truth, compensation, and official accountability. We have supported their efforts in calling for love and conscience, reconciliation of enmity, and defense of life and human rights. As always, we support the Tiananmen Mothers.
On the occasion of the opening of the Tiananmen Mothers’ new website, we once again express our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for its success!
